Crohn's & Colitis Awareness Week 2019 - IBD Business Owners

By Emily Bridges | November 20, 2019

This Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week (December 1-7) we are focussing on some of the amazing IBDers who run their own businesses.

As business owners ourselves we know how much hard work and energy goes into running a business. We have so much admiration for all the people who run their own businesses while living with IBD or other health conditions.

Our co-founder Seb Tucknott was already running his own web design business when he was diagnosed with IBD, but for many people it’s their IBD that leads them to start their own company. Being a business owner with IBD can give you opportunities you may not have in employment to choose your working hours, location of work and to take time off when needed. It may also give you inspiration for a new business. However, running a business can also be incredibly stressful and take a toll on your health.

Through our #IBDBusinessOwners campaign we wanted to highlight some of the amazing businesses people in the IBD community run, give advice to other business owners and inspire people who may be thinking about taking the leap to follow their dreams and set up their own businesses. We also see it as an opportunity to promote the companies of people with IBD to help them reach a new audience and hopefully gain some new business.

If you are a business owner with IBD, or you know of one, then please let us know. Either comment on one of our social media posts, letting us know about the business, share your own post on social media and include #IBDBusinessOwners or email us at info@ibdrelief.com. We’ll try to share as many as possible.

Head over to our Stories page to read about the IBD Business Owners we are focussing on. A new one will be added every day between December 1-7.
