About Simon

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2008, at the age of 14, following a two year struggle with symptoms of the disease. Since the age of 3 I've lived with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, and I have been on a cocktail treatments over the years, including steroids, anti-inflammatories and biologics. Following diagnosis with Crohn’s, I began an 8 week polymeric diet, and changed medication.

I find that stress make my symptoms worse, and so I try to plan ahead, to minimise the impact on daily life. I'm now in my early 20s, and am raising awareness of musculoskeletal diseases and IBD, and am passionate about involving patients and their families in research for better treatments, diagnoses and quality of life.
